Looks good, thought I'd have to get used to going back out from the washroom to go in and pray.  Maybe have 16:68-69 on the door because of the honeycomb shape of the walls?

I was thinking of a building design as follows:



Benefits of this design as per my personal understanding.

1- As per 72:18 we are allowed to call upon Allah only in Masjids, in the building above Masjid entrance is separated so that no other talks/discussion may disturb or interfere in there.

2- Washroom has two entrances, one near to Masjid that makes easy for ablution and other entrance is for people busy with other activities in the main building.

3- Study room and Masjid sizes can be adjust accordingly. And I prefer only AlQuraans [in almost all languages] to be kept in study room [no other books is needed]. Computers with internet connection is already there with blocking of games and any other time pass activities.

4- Lobby with sofas and chairs can be used for meetings or to discuss any matter.

5- Restroom can be used for people who travel from long distance, who can stay there for few days to study AlQuraan.

6- Kitchen is used for cooking, making tea, keeping snacks, etc. with all kitchen facilities, such as fridge, utensils, plates, etc.

7- As per 9:108, standing IN the mosque is mentioned, so physical place is needed, you can see the building design above.

8- As per 9:107-109 we are not allowed to take over old Masjids, or the old Masjids place to make new Masjids.

9- As per 7:29, we have to keep our faces straight NEAR Masjids, other part of the building is NEAR to Masjid.

10- As per 7:31, everyone, sons of Adam are allowed NEAR Masjids and to EAT and DRINK, that means we are allowed to invite non-muslims to other part of the building with is NEAR to Masjid for meeting or to show them AlQuraan and also food and drinks can be taken [but not in Masjid].


This is only but my personal understanding. Everyone are free to criticize or to disagree with. I try to relate all related aayaats to the design of building. May Allah forgive me if I am making any mistakes and correct me where I am wrong.

 Layth I agree.  Establishing a community is very important.  I believe fear of islolation is one of many factors as to why Muslims continue to adhere to traditions.  Humans have a need to belong.  We are social creatures.

I also like the structual design of a meeting centre however given that we are scattered throughout the world and the cost of building a structure can we start with a vertual community and work towards establishing a strong, well organized NGO?

A new endeavour called Inclusive Mosque Initiative is under way, which I hope you maybe interested in being involved with.

Our primary aim is to establish an alternative model and promote greater access to what currently exists of mosque spaces and having physical spaces modelling this in the UK and abroad. It is not to initially change how other mosques are, except potentially by example and future dialogue, inshallah.

Salaam 'Good Logic',
Those of us currently involved in the new initiative certainly believe primarily in the 'God Alone' ethos, additionally we aim to provide a space where others can also come and share their perspectives in a rational and respectful manner, insha'allah. We don't aim to impose a particular ideaology other than the inclusiveness of Islam and that the Qur'an is our core guidance. Along with that we have core aims as listed on our website and hope to build congregations across the UK and globally.

In some ways (not all) we aim to be a similar space to 'Muslims for Progressive Values' except we aim not shy away from current social and political issues such as the liberation of the Palestinian people, campaigning for internatinal assitance of Burmese Muslims, etc.

We are still in our early days and welcome individuals from Free-Minds to get involved if they can subscribe to our aims.
