Jerusalem in the Quran
« on: June 19, 2012, 05:24:15 AM »
Hello to all the Believers:

Would like to hear some feedback: Many are saying or have said " There is NO mention of Jerusalem in the Quran. Even Daniel Pipes (a hater of Islam) has offered $1 million to anyone who can prove it. I love to hear feedback.

Thanks
Kay

(2:26) Allah is not shy to strike a parable whatsoever a gnat or larger. Those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord. As for those who disbelieve they ask: 'What could Allah mean by this parable? By it, Allah misleads many and guides many. ' But He misleads none except the evildoers

Many non-believers state well if Muhammad is a real messenger or prophet why didn't he know about Jerusalem since it is mentioned in the Bible, etc.  Mostly comes from people of the Book.

Peace ,

I am probably missing something here;

Arn't all cities in the world made of stone, So why would one of them "need to be" mentioned in the quran which is only basicaly telling us that Righousness is the only way to salvation.

There are many cities older and newer then Jeru...

I agree with you. That is an argument people bring up to try to disprove the Quran.

The Quran does mention certain place names, notably:  Yahtrib,  Midian, Badr, Hunayn, Iram of the Pillars, Saba' (Sheba) and Umm'ul Qura (Mother of Towns).

So what? I don't see how that conflicts with the primary message of righteousness.

As far as Jerusalem goes, there is zero mention of PALESTINE as a whole in the Quran, nor is there any indication whatsoever that Abraham was there.

Peace Kay.

Does Jerusalem mean The house of peace?  " Darussalam" in Arabic?

If it is , then there is  " They have -Darussalam" at their Lord..." as near as you can get to mentioning " Jerusalem" in the Koran

Just a thought. I hope others can clarify for you.
Peace.

Salaam,

I believe the *City* of Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Qur'aan, in the same light, that the Qur'aan does not mention any other cities. As far as I know, the Qur'aan only states the name of a tribe or a group (i.e. people of 'Ad, people of Yathrib etc).

Just because a certain city is not specifically named, it does not render it completely irrelevant.

One has to note, that a city name may be changed as time progresses. Before Palestine was occupied, the area now known as Jerusalem/Yerushalayim was previously named Al-Quds (and might be named differently 1400 years ago). Some with any other cities in the world. With different rulers/empires, city names would have undergone changes.

It is foolish that such and such names are not mentioned in the Qur'aan...
‘For peace of mind, we need to resign as general manager of the universe.’

‘When you judge another you do not define them, you define yourself.’

‘Time may heal physical pain but only love can heal emotional pain.’

‘My life has been full of terrible misfortunes, most of which never happened.’
