I've always hated the term Quranist. We are all muslim here regardless of sect.

Student of Allah summed it up well.

Peace,

I too believe we are simply Muslims. However, I occasionally distinguish myself when talking to non-Muslims in order to arouse curiosity in them and to try and break their automatic stereotypes towards Muslims.

If a non-Muslim asks you what you are religiously, and you simply reply with "Muslim" because in your head you know all what you believe, many times they can simply just stereotype you as one of the many radical traditionalists out there. And that's fine if you simply do not care what others think about you. But by answering "Quran-alone Muslim" (I personally prefer this over "Quranist" since it spells it out more clearly) you create a bait for people to inquire further about your beliefs, and thus being able to propagate the truth. I've already had this work to my benefit a couple of times, and I recall prior to this belief when I'd respond with just Muslim, the door was shut right there.

Just my 2 cents.

May peace be with you all.
Now, we must all fear evil people. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good people.

Well to say we are "muslim" while using the english language is in itself a fallacy that means you find comfort in identifying with "Muslims", a specific group of people. Of course, in the Arabic language we are "muslim" but let's be dynamic. We are submitters to the natural way, we are seekers of peace, truth, we just are. As soon as you identify with a name, you divide. Even if you claim to follow "ALLAH" or "God", you divide. Because people have preconceptions about all of these things. The key is to unite in love for the creator, not to cling onto a term which is supposed to unite!

Only in this sense is a "quranist" a spiritual chameleon yet totally free of intellectual dishonesty.

Well put OPF, totally agree.

I suppose as soon as you are labelled with a name such a Quranist then you are liable to get sub-set labels appear after that like:
True Quranist
50% Quranist
Agressive Quranist
Passive Quranist
Master Quranist
part hadith Quranist

etc etc etc .... unlimited divisions of a particular sect or label.

Exactly! Every human is individual and no two of us share exactly the same beliefs. The more we try and label ourselves, the more we will find that not a single label can truly fit any of us. My brother used to tell me that labels fit on boxes, not on people. How true...

Being "quranist" is just one of the attributes of a muslim (not 'Muslim' with a capital M), just like a muslim also possesses attributes as peacemaker, virtuous, rational, just, etc. The essence of all these attributes is the same: Truth and loving Truth. Islam as a natural amalgamation of all these supreme qualities has been lost and forgotten in the world, and those who endeavor to revive its spirit sometimes need to identify themselves with these sub-attributes to proclaim that they represent not tradition but something else which is deeper and may need attention, it is like issuing a challenge. It is this need of announcement that muslims may decide to identify themselves with these additional attributes in a specific environment, such as being 'peacemaker' in a world of violence and conflict and thus emphasizing what needs to be prioritized according to God's law, being rational or free-thinker in a world preoccupied with dogma, being quranist among followers of pagan books etc... These descriptions can be used to emphasize the context, and there is no harm in them in my understanding.  The essence is what that remains important.

does accepting hadith automatically excludes someone from the "muslim fold"? if not then calling ur self a quranist:- a muslim that believes solely in the quran shouldnt be a problem.

so long as you dont make it a sect. right?

I accept being a "Quraanist" as I believe Quraan is the Hukumate <Manifest will>
and therefore it is EmmanuEl <God with us> because Quraan recited is
Elah /Allah speaking directly to us then this is a "Barrier" through which our Lord gives
Wahy and ruhiim to Mediums <rasool> and the witness <shaheed><both of whom appear each generation > Proclaim the Good News that our King-Deity -Deity-King, is with us!

I know my reaching out in my prostration is <Supplication>answered in my Recitation <3 part salaat Affirmation Supplication & Recitation> I simply open Quraan Majeed and Elah/Allah speaks to my supplication! <> that being said I have also compiled 2 Revelation order Quraan(s) this collection and putting together and utilizing for my last 5 Ramadans I have come to the conclusion that Quraan is EmmanuEl - I have discovers al Quraan & the 7 pairs, are 7 distinct Books each with their own header Letters [ex ALM] the First one lead to finding the 7 books and later still I going that all 7 books had their own unique Header Letters

The first book is Song and praise <al Zabor> the second is al Fruqan <Statute Book>
3rd is book of Musa 4th Book of Hadith & Sunnah of the Mediums 5th instruction to Mediums 6th &
7th pure instructions in Ummitin-State building.

I believe myself to be a Purists <> I rember Akhi Layth from the early days when my ex-wife and I were starting out on our discovery of Quraan Solely as our Faith path,
she still follows Quraan Solely as a Submitter,  and today I have evolved into a Quraan Solely Sufi.
For a while we formed the Quraan Solely Ebaadite <Devotees> Movement in Atlanta
from there I embrace An enhanced sense  of Wahy and ruhiina - that made me retire from the world and embrace Collecting The 2 Quraans <> in so doing I was blessed to be shown the secret of the coming Aquarian/Yosefian Age! This age where minds will be open to a Universal Truth<ie Quraan Majeed as EmmanuEl > and the acceptance of Elah/Allah's Mediums and witnesses. .

Because EmmanuEl is my foundation I have been able to study other Scriptures seek My Lord's Words. And many times I remember EmmanuEl's tale on the same subject,  but the fact remains I remember my Lord <EmmanuEl> said it and it also says Elah/Allah had sent the Mediums throughout the world.

So to.sum up <> real Quraan Solely Devotees <3baadi> are convinced the Quraan is The Light of the Word and Elah Manifest Will to us, the Great conversation of the Living God who has dwelled with us 1400+ years but many have failed to.recognize it!

Ahadith & Sunnah are an Insult to intelligent Devotees, just like Bible & Talmud are an insult to Torah <Israelites EmmanuEl>  Quraan says to.know History but to be careful of following everything you found others doing! <traditions ascribed to prophets mediums saints or elders>
Al 3baadur Rahmani are they who tread the earth gently , and when the ignorant speak they only utter Peace.
