The meaning of 57:3
« on: November 27, 2011, 08:49:32 AM »
I do wonder if I have the correct meaning of 57:3. I have studied religion for nearly 10 years now, and was wondering about it`s meaning.

I do have reached some level of certanity. Probably beyond normal interpretations. To me it`s all about Islam, and what the Quran really says.

I would translate it like this:

57:3 He is the first, the last, the aware and the hidden, and he has knowledge of everything.

Paradox Void is the infinitely superior.

Paradox Void is an attribute of God, or any other entity it should point to, which is the same entity.
Designer of all dimensions. Former of forms, shaper of shapes. According to truth.
Peace.

-Salam

Word for word:

هُوَ  :He
الْأَوَّلُ : First
وَ : and
الْآخِرُ: Last
 و: and
َالظَّاهِرُ : evident
 و: and
َالْبَاطِنُ: immanent
 و: and
َهُوَ: he
 بِكُلِّ: in every
 شَيْءٍ:  thing
 عَلِيمٌ : Knowledgeable

I think Yusuf Ali's translation  is correct:
He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things.

Sufis have influenced the translation of this verse for a long time, and translations often reflect pantheism. Therefore I have sought to clarify it. I believe it deals with immanence, but not pantheism.

Peace.
