the hadith about squatting when you urinate
AK85:
this is from hadith right? I was at a friend's house once, when I told him I needed to use the washroom he demanded that I sit down when I urinate. Of course I complied without a second thought, this was before I believed in the Qu'ran only.
However...I think all of us have noticed that when we use the washroom to uhhh do number 2 we'll notice that we urinate a lot more, than almost uncontrollably...And for the males among us, you have probably noticed you urinate more/expel it more than if you are just standing and urinating.
I think this is because the squatting/sitting motion puts pressure on your bladder and forcefully expels all the urine. As opposed to standing, where it will only come out forcefully if you've been holding it in for a long time.
I don't think this was a "divine inspiration" from God, but I think the Prophet pbuh probably said this because...you can notice this for yourself when you squat or sit to use the toilet.
The Prophet pbuh was a wise man, no Sunni or Shia will deny this. He was probably giving some people some advice, after noticing on his own that all/the majority of the urine comes out when you squat/sit and therefore it is better to squat/sit when you urinate. I am not familiar with the hadith in question, but I'm sure that they might have made it to look like something only the real muslims do/the believers do/you have to do...in order to justify other hadiths which they fabricated as something you have to follow, "because of the Prophet pbuh's divine guidance in rightfully revealing from God that it is better to sit when one pees."
If anything, I believe it was probably that the prophet pbuh even explained why he was giving this advice...but the hadith compilers deliberately left out his testimony as to why it is better to squat/sit when you urinate because they knew then it would encourage people to not just follow blindly other hadiths...
thoughts?

some hadith from my favourite fatwa site. ;)
It is not haraam for a man to urinate standing up, but it is Sunnah for him to urinate sitting down, because ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: “Whoever tells you that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to urinate standing up, do not believe him. He only ever used to urinate sitting down.” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, al-Tahaarah, 12; he said, this is the most saheeh report on this topic. It was also classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan al-Tirmidhi, no. 11). And because this is more concealing, and it reduces the risk of any drops of urine splashing up onto him.
It was narrated from ‘Umar, Ibn ‘Umar and Zayd ibn Thaabit (may Allaah be pleased with them) that it is allowed to urinate standing up on the condition that there is no risk of drops of urine splashing onto one’s body or clothes, and that one does not expose one's ‘awrah, because al-Bukhaari and Muslim narrated from Hudhayfah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) came to a garden belonging to some people, and urinated standing up. There is no contradiction between this and the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), because it is possible that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did that because he was in a place where he was unable to sit down, or he did that to show the people that it is not haraam. This does not contradict the basic principle mentioned by ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), that he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) urinated sitting down, because it is Sunnah, it is not something waajib (obligatory) which it is forbidden to go against. And Allaah knows best.

Yes my compatriot al-Albaani was correct;
it's practical especially if on a soccer team, no cover, wide open fields, and one has to go. :-\

well yes, I think it is likely that the prophet pbuh did this because I mean how many times have us guys stood up and urinated and then had to shake our penises because it doesn't all come out? and nothing is worse than when you finish peeing and then zip up and then feel a little trickle and you are like aww man lmao
I think he did this simply because he was wise and noticed for himself that it expels all the urine without leaving anything still inside that might come out after you zip up. (Yes I know they probably didn't have zippers back then, you guys know what I mean) And I don't think we should follow this "just because the prophet pbuh did it" but by concluding for ourselves that it indeed does make sense (17:36)
by the way I tested this theory last night for purposes of verification through replication lmao and it all came out and nothing came out after I zipped up

of course anyone who is reading this, please do not infer from this that I am implying that it is satanic not to sit down/squat when you pee and that even in adversity you should sit down to pee, even the hadithists don't think it is obligatory but it is just cleaner and expels much more, and this is something we can notice for ourselves, not just blindly accept because the prophet pbuh did it
