Did the Holy Spirit get the short end of the stick?

The Trinity has always been explained to me as, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are three individual, yet equal gods in one god head creating "God".

Wikipedia: "The Christian doctrine of the Trinity teaches the unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons in one Godhead."

So if this is true, it seems to me that the Holy Spirit got the short end of the stick here. You here so much about the Father and Son yet very little about the Holy Spirit. I've never heard anyone pray to the Holy Spirit, you don't here people praise the Holy Spirit as much as you here "Praise Jesus!"

So how are they equal? (From the Christian perspective of course as I believe, like most here, God is one.)

I agree that the HS gets the short end of the stick. For most Christians the HS gets relegated to just an undefined messenger or a seal of approval for their own interpretation of the Bible. That said, I can't speak for others denominations but Orthodox Christians start nearly every prayer or Liturgy with the Trisagion prayer, which is directly to the HS.

When you re-read the Old Testament with a Christian Trinitarian eye the Holy Spirit is there 'hovering over the waters' and in numerous other places.

Gen 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

It would not be hard to search Google - 'where is the holy spirit in the old testament or bible' and see what else crops up.

This link (which I have not read fully) shows other areas in the Bible where the spirit is mentioned.

You are mistaking the Doctrine of the Trinity for the Trinity. They are not the same thing. The Doctrine of the Trinity is not a provable doctrine from the Bible. The Trinity does exist in the Bible.

Jesus never had people pray to Him while He was here. He had people pray to the Father. It is the same for the Paraclete. He is here so there is no need to pray to Him. Jesus is not here now physically but He is here as the Paraclete as is the father also. The Paraclete is without a name so Jehovah or Jesus suffice.

DekeM:
I've always had a hard time understanding the Trinity. It's especially difficult explaining it to children. It would be easy to just assume that Jesus was the son of God. But I guess if he is the son of God, then he would obviously be higher than mortal humans. But how can he be equal to God or in essence be God? That's what I've always had a hard time understanding.
