What happens after death?

--- Quote ---Why worry when I have grasped the strongest hold with Allah?
--- End quote ---

I like the confidence in you!.. Keep it up!  :D

--- Quote ---I'm not that worried about the afterlife, in fact who cares?...  The Quran works effortlessly to improve our lifes here, to give us the best here.
--- End quote ---

I tend to disagree, I think the improvement of our lives here, is a by-product of our 'jihad', to make our lives better there. There, is what it's all about, not here!

Every soul will taste death, and you will be recompensed your wages on the day of resurrection. Whoever is swayed from the Fire and entered into Paradise, he has indeed won. This worldly life is nothing more than the enjoyment of vanity. (3:185)

This worldly life is nothing more than games and a diversion, and the abode of the Hereafter is far better for those who are righteous. Do you not understand? (6:32)

I'm not saying we should disregard this life completely and just sit and wait for the hereafter.  But at the same time, let's not forget what we're here to do, in this temporary abode.

Peace bro! :D

confuzed:
I think when your dead, your dead.  There is no dream state or any nothing.  Just your soul.  But what is a soul?  From I gather from the Quran, the soul is made up of 2 things.  The breath of God and the scrolls that are written by the angels containing everything about us.  The scrolls are like a memory card.  They hold all the data on us.  Everything we ever did, felt, saw, thought, etc.    What is the breath of God? I'm not sure. Maybe electrical impulse that runs our bodies.  When you die, your scrolls are rolled up and the breath of God returns to him.  Your body which was nothing more than a vessel rots in the ground and all that good stuff.  But as far as I am concerned, you are gone.

On the day of Judgement,  new bodies will be created, God will blow his breath into them and your memory card will be inserted into those bodies.  Thats my theory.

Peace Confuzed, Everyone,

I've thought a bit about this, too.

Because I believe that the Quran teaches us that the soul exists and continues, I tend to lean toward a dreamlike state.

However, it very well could be a 'restful nothingness' until the Day of Judgement, which is consistent with how things were before we were born.  Time, as we know it, becomes less relevant.

Either way, I'm not worried about it --- the Quran promises good things for those who believe.  I'm going to focus my energies on the struggle to follow God's laws here, and trust in him for everything else.  :D

Peace,

John
