« on: December 22, 2003, 08:38:01 AM »
Ok Im done with my christmas shopping and have a few more bucks ($60+) leftover from my Christmas bonus. I think I'll use that to buy my very own Quran.

What version do you suggest, people? :D

I'll assume you are being serious and will recommend:

Ahmed Ali's Contemporary English Translation.

It's an excellent translation in my humble opinion.

You can get it at:

http://store.yahoo.com/desistore-com/alquran.html

It's the newest edition and I have bought from this company and can recommend them. The book is also hardback and very nicely printed.

Peace

Save unto a messenger whom He has chosen, and He made an affirmer to proceed him and another to follow him.
That He may know that they have indeed conveyed the messages of their Lord. He is cognizant of all their doings, and He keeps account of all things."

Peace DoctorNo

I would not say that there is a 'best' translation of the quran, but I'd recommend Muhammad Maulana Ali's.

Take care.
