Looks like you answered your own question ;)

As asdfjk pointed out, rather than allowing your wife to leave/seperate, you offer alternatives to hold the marriage together (let's talk about it...What if I slept in the other room...ok, you stay and I will leave till you cool off).

The main objective is to do all you can to stop your wife from leaving, because if she leaves, it will be far more difficult to reconcile.
