in the article i read of this account, it mentioned that the man also tried to kill himself after. if this is true, it certainly points to the fact that he knew he was wrong to do what he did. people don't generally kill themselves when they truly think they are correct, imho.

yes he asked the court for a death sentence so clearly this shows his repentence.

however this type of thing has happened in the past.
