peace all,

5th Year Review of Project Lane's Lexicon

Download total = 6963 GB (StudyQuran) + unknown amount from mirror and small files site
no. of Lane DVDs sent worldwide in 5th year by StudyQuran = 42
+ unknown amount from others

After 5 years, there have been over 11000 known distributions!

Having just re-read this thread, I realised I didn't discuss much on what inspired me to initiate this project, so since it's been 5 years, I thought I would:

When I first purchased my own copy of Lane's Lexicon, I was amazed by its content and how it helped my Quranic studies. Shortly after that I purchased Kassis' Concordance of The Quran, and in combination, these two resources improved my study of The Quran dramatically, and when I say dramatically, I mean it. It would be true to say that without these much of the findings I have posted on this forum would not exist. I quickly realised that if my understanding of The Quran had improved so significantly by their use, imagine if others also had access to them... what if thousands of students of The Quran worldwide utilised them to improve their understanding and even shared their findings, bringing us closer to the truth, imagine the possibilities! This dream became something I had to actualise.  :) Thanks to all those who contributed to bringing this about.

I hope you are all utilising it out there. For easy usage, see Project Root List in conjunction with Corpus

It seems Arabic images and English text are not compatible with E-reader formats, thus, the only way to view Lane's Lexicon on a portable device is online via PDFs or www.tyndalearchive.com/TABS/Lane/. Or if you can install DJVU software you can use the small files site: http://www.studyquran.co.uk/LLhome2.htm

Also apparently someone has created some online/mobile versions. I haven't tested them though:

Smartphone versions:

Now available in an almost all digital format:

http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/collection?collection=Perseus%3Acorpus%3Aperseus%2Cwork%2CLane%2C%20An%20Arabic-English%20Lexicon

Good for copying and pasting entries, but a little difficult to use with search, at least I found it to be so.

Thank you Bro for the info.  However, what I really need is a hard copy (photostat copies are cheaper).  Do you have it? I am willing to pay the cost.  Ya I could print it from the computer but it will take a very long time and the printer should be a good one.

However if you do have a ready hard copy, please do let me know.  Sorry my correct e-mail is: see above post

I would also like to congratulate you for the wonderful and up to date Quranic dictionary website. May Allah bless you for the wonderful effort!!
