@IronFist:  :welcome:

AQ contains hadith, so anyone who claims that they "reject hadith" isn't being quite correct.  A more correct claim for one to make is that they reject extra-Qur'anic hadith for purposes of the Deen.

Incredible claims require incredible proofs; an example of solid evidence is direct quotation from AQ.

51:24 Has the narrative [ḥadīthu] of the noble guests of Abraham come to you?

هل اتىك حديث ضيف ابرهيم المكرمين

45:6 These are the revelations of GOD, We recite them to you with the truth. So, in which narrative [ḥadīthin] after GOD and His revelations do they believe?

تلك ءايت الله نتلوها عليك بالحق فباى حديث بعد الله وءايته يومنون

Be welcome and share your learning with us.  :handshake:

General Issues / Questions / Re: Wanting input regarding a free Ham
« on: December 17, 2012, 01:48:18 PM »
Greetings and Peace, all

Either option is viable, and both have their own merits.

I'd go with option B.  Not eating pork meat is binding for followers of our Deen--no problem with others chowing down.

22:67 For every nation We have established rites which they are to fulfill. So do not let the matter fall into dispute. And call upon your Lord, for you are on a guidance which is straight.

Abstaining from consuming pork meat is a rite for us--and others have their own rites.

However:

2:267 O you who believe, spend from the good things that you have earned, and from what We have brought forth from the earth. And do not select the rotten out of it to give, while you would not take it yourselves unless you closed your eyes regarding it. And know that GOD is Rich, Praiseworthy.

Which shows more respect for creation--throwing out meat that an animal died to provide, or providing that meat to one who sees it as food?  :hmm  Of course in this case, the meat would probably not be thrown out if not accepted...but the conclusion is similar.  By choosing option B, you are helping another and not harming them.

ALLAH knows best.

Questions/Comments on the Quran / Re: How to convince my husband?
« on: December 14, 2012, 01:59:39 AM »
Greetings and Peace, all

Salam alaikum brothers and sisters,

So I have for a long time now believed in only the Quran, pretty much since I converted five years ago, my husband knows that and disagrees with me. Until now I had never considered that believing in Hadith could be a form or Shirk, I thought his form of belief was fine for him and mine for me. But now I am afraid that he is committing Shirk and want to try to show him the truth. I just don't know how I will even approach this subject with him. I think he is going to get really mad and say that I am the one who is an unbeliever. I am wondering if there is a page or site where I can go where all the evidence is kind of in one place so that I might be able to persuade him to at least consider a change of view. He speaks Moroccan Arabic, I only speak English so it would have to be something with Arabic and English in the same place. Have any of you tried discussing this with a spouse or loved one. How did it go over? Really need some advice, I have been putting it off for weeks now. I know only Allah can guide someone to believe but I have to at least try to show him the truth.

28:56 You cannot guide whom you love. But it is GOD who guides whom He wills; and He is fully aware of those who receive the guidance.

41:33 And who is better in saying than he who invites to GOD, and does good works, and says: "I am one of those who have submitted."

Build bridges and be patient.  Don't directly talk about rejecting hadith. AQ contains hadith, it is the extra-Quranic hadith that is to be rejected for purposes of the Deen.  It is okay to accept hadith for anything other than the Deen, ISA.  In any case, talk about upholding the teachings of AQ, not about rejecting hadith.  Many are the translations of AQ that contain both English and Arabic...find the most important parts and talk about those.  You may find that your husband accepts them.  Of course ask ALLAH for help with what ALLAH knows to be best.

Examples:

6:114 "Shall I seek other than GOD as a judge when He has sent down to you the Book fully detailed?" Those to whom We have given the Book know it is sent down from your Lord with the truth; so do not be of those who have doubt.

6:115 And the word of your Lord has been completed with truth and justice; there is no changing His words. He is the Hearer, the Knower.

6:116 And if you obey most of those on the earth they will lead you away from the path of GOD; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess.

6:126 And this is the straight path of your Lord. We have fully detailed the revelations [l-āyāti] to a people who remember.

7:185 Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that GOD has created? Perhaps their time is drawing near; so in which narrative [ḥadīthin] after this one will they believe?

16:89 And the Day We send to every nation a witness against them from themselves, and We have brought you as a witness against these. And We have sent down to you the Book as a clarification for all things, and a guidance and a mercy and good tidings to those who have submitted.

17:36 And do not uphold what you have no knowledge of. For the hearing, eyesight, and heart, all these you are responsible for.

25:30 And the messenger said: "My Lord, my people have deserted this Qur'an."

39:45 And when GOD alone is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter are filled with aversion; and when others are mentioned besides Him, they rejoice!

45:6 These are the revelations of GOD, We recite them to you with the truth. So, in which narrative [ḥadīthin] after GOD and His revelations do they believe?

Please carefully consider some of the articles on the main page, ISA they may help you.

May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.

@one-9-one:  :welcome:

By all means participate, but don't rely on any human to Guide you.  To do so is perilous.  Listen to others when the subject interests you, but use your mind and your understanding.

If you haven't already read them, the articles on the main page are thought provoking.  However, they aren't to be considered truth unless they can be confirmed by the considerer.

May ALLAH see fit to bless all seekers.

@Sunnah-hero/Wael: Long time no see!  :sun:  I'm pleased to see that you have developed. <happy tears>  In following ALLAH alone through AQ, you are following the REAL Sunnah of ALL Prophets (Peace upon them all!)

I'm unblocking you, and really look forward to reading your new posts.

In life, it is never too late for someone to find the Deen, ISA.

May ALLAH see fit to bless you, and all seekers.

General Issues / Questions / Re: Killing someone in Self Defence?
« on: December 07, 2012, 06:46:09 PM »
Greetings and Peace, all

Most street fights are avoidable simply by leaving the area.  One who gets involved in the situation mentioned is likely to get the worst of a fight, because they are complying with the other person's plan--falling into their OODA loop.  The planner of the fight has anticipated the fight and knows exactly how they intend to proceed.  To quote a movie, "Stange game, the only winning move is not to play."  If forced into a fight, respond appropriately to the threat--and try to end the fight quickly.  Not only are all fights not winnable, but it only takes a single person to escalate a situation.  Things can turn ugly quickly.

Aggression is corruption--but children are usually not held to the same standards as adults.  Shoving someone rudely is corruption.  Spitting at someone is corruption.  Cursing someone is corruption.  Not as much corruption as killing--but corruption just the same.  The key word in response to aggression is appropriateness.  Throwing a fragmentation grenade at someone who threw a rock at you is not an appropriate response. In some cases, swearing out an arrest warrant for battery (if a person hit you knowingly) is an appropriate response.  I did this one time--swear out a warrant rather than utilize a weapon.  I'd also tried to avoid the situation, but was unable to.  Turns out, the guy's father shot the assaulter in self defense (over something unrelated) before the warrant could be served.  Sad story, but maybe the warrant helped the father get acquitted of all charges.

Anyway, maybe too much "narrative" here.

ALLAH knows best.

General Issues / Questions / Re: Killing someone in Self Defence?
« on: December 06, 2012, 01:40:52 AM »
Greetings and Peace, all

I understand, though the question was more towards not if the person will die or not but rather what if the person who is being attack fights back with the intent to kill then. Like as a rapist is about to attack this woman and she takes out a knife and with intention she tries to kill him by stabbing him whereever she can and then runs. Basically im looking into the intentions here and seeing if this person is blamesworthy for trying to kill them or not.

I personally believe so far that they wouldnt be due to the verses we referenced on a person who has commited corruption can be killed and thus she wouldnt be blamesworthy.

We are of the same mind on this.  A person defending themself from rape or sodomy, even if they intend to kill the attacker while defending, is blameless.

Where I live, it is also completely lawful for anyone observing a violent felony to kill the felon.

Defense from a forcible felony; A person is justified in using threats or force to the degree they reasonably believe it is necessary to stop another person's imminent use of unlawful force. A person is justified in using deadly force which may harm or kill only if he or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent death or great bodily injury to himself or herself or a third person or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony (unless it is regarding defense of habitation, which has it's own requirements below). You are not justified if you were the aggressor or you are/were/on-the-way-to committing a felony. (The state has pre-empted local cities and counties from further restricting this defense.)(16-3-21)

Defense of habitation; (here habitation means dwelling, motor vehicle, or place of business) A person is justified in the use of force which is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm only if:

1. A person is breaking\has broken into your home in a violent and tumultuous manner, and you think that the intruder is going to assault you or someone else living there.

2. A person who is not a member of the family or household and who unlawfully and forcibly enters the residence and you know it is an unlawful entry.

3. The person using such force reasonably believes that the entry is made or attempted for the purpose of committing a felony therein and that such force is necessary to prevent the commission of the felony.

@Zubair:  :welcome:

Have you had a chance to read any of the articles on the main page?  Some of them might be worth reading.  :yes

Be aware of what you read, don't follow any other person or person's advice without verifying it for yourself.

17:36 And do not uphold what you have no knowledge of. For the hearing, eyesight, and heart, all these you are responsible for.

It is always good to have new members.  Have you lurked for a while?  Most folks do.
