What is the nature of God? / Re: The Challenge Yet To Be Met
« on: July 30, 2012, 08:00:46 PM »
I've never understood why knowing what's going to happen means people don't have free will.

I roughly know what will happen in my household tomorrow, does that mean no one has free will and it's all predetermined? No.

and look at the bones how we fix it and cover it with LAHMAN...

سورة المؤمنون - الآية 14 -
ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا النُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةً فَخَلَقْنَا الْمُضْغَةَ عِظَامًا فَكَسَوْنَا الْعِظَامَ لَحْمًا
.. and we clothed the bones LAHMAN...

according to these ayahs,  All what is above, or over bones is called LAHMA

سورة الحج - الآية 36 -
وَالْبُدْنَ جَعَلْنَاهَا لَكُمْ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ
Meat we eat is called el BUDNA,  almost same word like frensh VIANDE

Almost every translation translates Budna as Cattle/Camels or both.
http://www.islamawakened.com/quran/22/36/default.htm
And as for the sacrifice of cattle
And (as for) the camels
And the camels and cows
And the camels and cattle

The Qur'anic Arabic corpus also says the same
http://corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=22&verse=36#(22:36:1)

At best some have translated it as plump animals, fleshy animals, but I'm having trouble believing it just means meat you eat.

People really really liked to invade each other in medieval periods, and still today. Both Christianity and Islam forbid offensive warfare but both forged huge empires from conquest. Ultimately it comes down to the man in charge and not the religion.

How ever one could make an argument that the Islamic conquests were justified.

Questions/Comments on the Quran / Re: Need some clarification, please
« on: July 27, 2012, 04:44:34 PM »
It's most likely this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majestic_plural
It's where, if someone is important enough, they refer to themselves as "we" even though they're only one person. Kings and Queens do it, and it's also found in the previous scriptures.
Jewish scholars point to the Majestic plural or the royal we in many verses of the Hebrew Bible or Tanakh
This article also mentions the Qur'ans usage of it too.

Peace DaresBears.

There is a verse where GOD mentioned what was  made unlawful to the children of Israel. "Shuhumahuma" ie Fat. Except what was mixed with the bones or meat of the shoulder...

"Lahm= Meat"  " Shahm= Fat"

The point I was trying to make if there was any medecine or product made of " Fat of pork" it may be fine.. They are areas where the fat is separate and not mixed with any meat.

Of course that is my understanding. Double check all information using Koran.

Peace.

In that respect it may mean just muscle meat and I'll have to look into it further, but the English word meat encompasses the fat. Maybe it should be translated as Muscle of pig.

General Issues / Questions / Re: Do angels have free will?
« on: July 27, 2012, 09:07:38 AM »
Pickthall Translation
18:50 - And (remember) when We said unto the angels: Fall prostrate before Adam, and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis. He was of the jinn, so he rebelled against his Lord's command. Will ye choose him and his seed for your protecting friends instead of Me, when they are an enemy unto you? Calamitous is the exchange for evil-doers.

Sahih International
18:50 - And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers as an exchange.

This verse seems to disagree. It also implies the free will situation -- it is mentioned he is a jinn because only a jinn could disobey a direct command. It also implies that he willingly submitted for a time, until he heard the one command he was unwilling to comply with (to prostrate to Adam.)

Other translations say things like "He became a Jinn" so I'm so sure which to believe, theres a thread about it right now. I'm more interested in the free will of Angels though.

General Issues / Questions / Do angels have free will?
« on: July 27, 2012, 06:47:03 AM »
It's often taken simply as a fact that angels do not have free will and do exactly what God asks. But I'm wondering, does the Qur'an actually say this? I've looked but failed to find it, maybe i have not looked hard enough.

It also leads on to the issue of Satan, it's debated whether he was Angel or Jinn, but if angels do have free will, Satan could have easily been an Angel.

Peace DaresBears.

I pretty much agree, except the "fat" bit . GOD does not say "meat and fat  of pigs". The word of GOD is measured, precise. GOD says exactly what HE means.

Peace.

Fat is meat Good Logic. Meat is Muscle+Fat of an animal. It's a common misconception that meat is only the muscle.
