Indelwyn, please dont worry ...... things will work out.
I understand the verses to mean that God is the only person who can decide who will intercede if atall and in line with the rest of the good book Gods decision has nothing to do with the prophet/his influence or his presence.
things happen for a reason ...a bigger plan and maybe your mother in laws challenges to what you follow are there to make you read/understand further to stand you better in your faith.......keep strong

my Husband although he identifies as christian isnt overly religious,,,,,,he leaves me to myself and has always supported me ......he is happy as long as I am. As regards our children we teach them about god but do not tell them they are muslim or christian...to us the main thing is to serve god
My sisters and mother/father howoever think im going through a phase
and despite never reading the Quran try to tell me what they hate about Islam....which is mostly taken from the crazies they allow on TV and the myths from hadith that are now mainstream .....................i just tell them to read before they comment

It amazes me how people (the boyfriend) can be so confused when they are following a book with all the answers???
As a convert I found that my thirst for knowledge extended to asking most of the muslims I met at the mosque many many questions.....the danger of this was that I came away confused and afraid id made a huge mistake........its such a shame as converts have so many questions and the only place they can get answers is usually the place where the answers are incorrect
you are a good friend for giving her the right information
I wish that I would have had that when I had considered converting.......lets hope her boyfriend doesnt think his are the only ones that count!!
