Salat & Zakat (The Contact & Purification) / Re: Salat and Quran
« on: July 14, 2008, 04:08:11 PM »
Wa'alaykum As'salaam, GodWithin...

Thanks for inquiring, if you were indeed inquiring of me.

If so... when I utter those words to ALLAH, I am not merely "saying" anything, without having the right attitude and frame of mind.

I meditate on those words... and I MEAN them... totally relying on ALLAH to do all of the things that He instructs and advises me to do in Al-Fatihah. I am striving daily to do all that I do "In the name of ALLAH, the Beneficent, the Merciful"... all of my praises are to ALLAH, the Lord of the worlds... HE most certainly is the "Master of the day of Requital"... it most certainly IS ONLY HIM that I serve and ONLY HIM that I seek for MY HELP... I am COMPLETELY TRUSTING in HIM to "GUIDE me on the RIGHT PATH... The path of those upon whom HE hast bestowed favours, and NOT those upon whom wrath is brought down, NOR of those who go astray."

I am TOTALLY reliant on ALLAH ALONE for my journey to becoming the best Muslim that I can be, through my learning of the Qur'an... again, with HIS help! These words mean so much to me... and I do realize how important it is to both start and end my day with them.

I am so completely thankful to ALLAH for being the Creator and all of the other magnificent 99 names that HE IS! I have to learn each of those next.  ;D

But, please... make no mistake... I don't just "say" those words... I absolutely mean them with every fiber of my being!

ALLAH is MOST WONDERFUL, MOST GRACIOUS, MOST MERCIFUL, ALL-KNOWING... and so much, much MORE!

Praise be to ALLAH!

Peace and blessings! (Saying those words has just made me so happy, I can not begin to describe what I am feeling right now  :sun:)

Salaam, Aqidah... and  :welcome:

Your testimony literally brought tears to my eyes. I am so glad to hear that you have found your way!

I am so sad of knowing that so many Muslims are so lost in tradition and that many don't spend very much time reading ALLAH's Word, His Message... the Qur'an!

It is such a blessing to learn of ISLAM and how to be a "proper", "good", and "faithful" Muslim for ALLAH.

I especially became emotional when you said that you felt like you were born again... and especially glad about being born "a girl"! I am so happy for you, that your mind has been freed! I truly thank ALLAH for helping you to escape from that prison that you were in (in the mind).

Continue in your search for the TRUTH through your study of the Qur'an, ALLAH's revelation and guidance to the Straight Path. And it is a beautiful thing that your mother was so understanding and encouraging to you. Prayerfully, she will follow your lead and she too, will become free!

I have no doubt that all of your questions will now be answered. YES, you CAN ask questions... and you will find your answers, STRAIGHT from ALLAH, Himself!

Hold Al-Fatihah very near and dear to your heart, Sis. Remember it... meditate on it... and DO IT... as in SERVE and SEEK ALLAH for your aid in ALL matters! If you SINCERELY trust and BELIEVE, HE will certainly HELP you! You need no other source!

It's a pleasure meeting you... and I hope to hear from you on the forum often.

Peace and blessings to you!

ALLAH knows BEST!!!!

Signing of without my title... Sis, Huruf has it for now!  :yes BUT, I will have it back REAL soon!  :yay:

Introduce Yourself / Re: Introduction, My Story
« on: July 14, 2008, 08:05:05 AM »
Salaam, again, Ramzi... and welcome also!

I had no idea that you are new to the forum, as I am "new" as well. Well, if you consider less than a month new... uhhh... I think it's been less than a month, anyway .

Anyway... after reading your introduction, I must say, ALLAHU AKBAR!!! To hear that you grew up in the region that you did and with so much influence surrounding you... Allah must have specific plans for you to allow you to step out from under that. As your friend put it "COME ON... can they all be wrong?"... (sorry, I haven't yet used the quote function... so, this is my way, until I figure out how to use it... and I'm sure it's not complicated at all. I just haven't tried yet!   :offtopic: <---- I know.), this is the thinking of many muslims. This is simply following "tradition" and conjecture... and not using your own mind and common sense to think. Also, the Qur'an needs no help... it is CLEAR, PERFECT, and COMPLETE! And that is where the first surah of it (the Qur'an) comes in. If one recognizes this OFTEN... not just through it's recitation... but also through meditation and being VERY mindful and aware of it's meaning... your TRUST and FAITH in ALLAH will most certainly help you in every way that you need, for it's understanding. One must first realize the importance of the first surah... and FOLLOW IT whole-heartedly before one can go any further in the Qur'an.

I personally believe that if you hold Al-Fatihah as near and dear to your heart... and if you recognize it for what ALLAH intends for you and you sincerely believe in it... you would not believe that you need other sources to help you to understand anything in the Qur'an, your mind will keep returning to Al-Fatihah!

Okay...  I don't want to be the one to go on and on... but I'm glad that you are here to join us in our efforts to keep to the Straight Path.

Stay strong in ALLAH and don't allow any distractions!

Peace and blessings...

Nameless - for now

Salaam, again, Ramzi...

Thanks again for your response... and to answer one of your questions... yes, the verse: "The path of those upon whom Thou has bestowed favours, not those upon whom wrath is brought down, nor those who go astray." is split into 2 verses in the Qur'an I have. It is written as such:

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
1: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds,
2: The Beneficent, the Merciful,
3: Master of the day of Requital.
4: Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.
5: Guide us on the right path,
6: The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favours,
7: Not those upon whom wrath is brought down, nor those who go astray.

As you can see... no numbering was given to the Bismillah at all, then immediately following, starts verse 1 down to verse 7... and verses 6 and 7; which are to be ONE, are split into two. That is why I wrote it as I did the first time. I was simply writing it EXACTLY as it is written in the translation that I have; which is called "The Holy Qur'an with English Translation and Commentary" by Maulana Muhammad Ali. I purchased it from Barnes and Noble Book Store located here in the U.S.  :hmm

I will be doing research to learn what is the best English translation to use, until I finally learn the Arabic language. Even if others try and advise me of the best English translation to use, I will still not be completely satisfied with their advice, because I'm sure that I will receive different responses!  That is why I need to learn Arabic as soon as possible, so that I can read the Qur'an in Arabic for myself and TRULY get the CORRECT and ORIGINAL revelation from ALLAH.

Until that time, may ALLAH have mercy on me, and us all.

Peace and blessings!

Awaiting the Return of My Title from Sis, Huruf! (Tomorrow, I think! :yay:

Salaam, again All...

By the way, let me try this again... for the sake of Allah

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. (1)

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, (2)

The Beneficent, the Merciful, (3)

Master of the day of Requital. (4)

Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help. (5)

The path of those upon whom Thou has bestowed favours, not those upon whom wrath is brought down, nor those who go astray. (7)

Salaam, Al Araf...

And I'd like to sincerely thank you for your reply to my last post.

After prayer this morning, I went to the Qur'an to try and understand what Soof had pointed out to me.

I have mentioned in this forum that I do not speak, read, or understand Arabic; therefore, I do realize that there will be some things that I need to pay careful attention to... and do my best to try and learn Arabic (which by the way, I am doing at this time), so that I can understand the Qur'an more, in it's original revelation, Arabic.

Anyway, after looking at Al-Fatihah and trying to understand how it was translated into English... and looking over at the Arabic; which was provided along side of the English translation. I did notice how one who has the Arabic translation and one who has an English translation could differ. I'm not certain, but it appears that in Arabic, you read or write from right to left? Is this true? At least, it appeared that the numbers fall after the verses, instead of before. I checked a few other English translations online and there were some that had the numbers fall after the verse, even in the English translation; which helped me to understand the concept of the numbering. In that case, I do understand what Soof meant in correcting me... and again, I am thankful for any revelations that I receive from any.

However, again... I must say that I wrote Al-Fatihah just as it is presented in the translation that I have. The numbers fall BEFORE each verse and there was and is no number before the Bismillah at the beginning of any chapter in this translation. However, when looking over to the Arabic translation; which is also provided along side of the English translation, I do notice that there is a number next to it (well, what is provided is what appears to be a "small circle" with no character inside of it... as the other small circles by other verses do contain some sort of character). I am presuming that the "small circle-like" objects are indeed numbers in Arabic? If so, I do see how the verses are numbered in Arabic versus English.

In that case, I understand the mistake... although I simply followed from the translation that I have in my possession... and again, I thank Soof for the correction and advice... and for helping me to become more aware of the need for me to learn Arabic!  :) However, there is no embarrassment. I simply did not know... and now I am aware.

Also, I'd like to point out... no matter what the case was in my numbering of the verses, no verse was subtracted, no verse was added, and no verse was changed (TO MY KNOWLEDGE)... and as long as I made every effort to write Al-Fatihah with it's clear meaning, translation and all... isn't that what matters? I wasn't corrected on the translation or verses themselves, but only on the numbering. So, I'm assuming I quoted Al-Fatihah CORRECTLY and it's the WORDS and the ATTITUDE you have when quoting that counts, am I right?

This is why I don't trust every source in the first place, because I realize that once a human gets involved, there is always room for error. This is also why it is VERY important to adhere to Al-Fatihah in the first place! To ADHERE, have the proper attitude, as well as DO what it says!

Thanks again, Al Araf and Soof for your replies and corrections. I am truly grateful.

Peace and blessings to each of you... and everyone who reads and responds to this post.

No Title - until, at least tomorrow (I think)  ;D

Salaam, Ramzi...

Thank you for the help that you feel you are giving me, I do appreciate when one wishes to help me correct a mistake or when one offers advice or anything of themselves to me, in an effort to help me to be better or more aware.

However, I don't think that I was incorrect in what I posted.

In my version of the Qur'an, that is how it is written. As a matter of fact, I went back into my Qur'an just to be sure of how it was written and I'd like to note... in each surah, before the verses actually begin the Bismillah is written, except for surah 9 (Al-Bara'at). The Bismillah has no number next to it, it is written above the numbered verses and is a distinct saying which is to keep the reader's mind conditioned with the right attitude before entering into the chapter itself... in other words, enter each chapter with the RIGHT mind and attitude, therefore, it is not an actual verse of the chapter, but a reminder of why you're reading it in the 1st place - "In the name of ALLAH, the Beneficent, the Merciful." A reminder that you are doing this in HIS name... and that you are relying on him for your understanding of what you are about to read or study. Now, this is only MY interpretation of why it is this way in MY version of the Qur'an.

If I was incorrect in the way that I wrote it... then the Qur'an that I have is also incorrect. In that case, you'll have to contact Mualana Muhammad Ali, it's his version with English translation and commentary.

Now, I guess you're going to tell me I have the wrong version of the Qur'an too.

Whew! All this advice is getting a little overwhelming, BUT... it will never be unwelcome to me. I just do with it what I do best... seek ALLAH for aid in what to do with it (surah 1:4). I don't just say it... I'm like the nike commercial... I just DO IT!   8)

So, guess you can see... embarrassment isn't an issue, because even if it is incorrect, we all make mistakes (don't know) and ALLAH will most certainly show me where I am wrong and need to make my corrections. I trust that He will... and please forgive me, IF I AM incorrect... and thanks for the correction.  :handshake:

Peace and blessings...

No Title - for one more day! ( I think)  :-[ <---- Now I am embarrassed, because I obviously can't count!

Salaam, All... and nice meeting you, Soof...

I haven't yet had the chance to go and look up the verses you (Soof) supplied, because it's past my bedtime. But, I wanted to reply before loggin out  ;D.

Thank you for your information and explanations that you have provided for everyone to verify for themselves (although, again... I haven't done so yet, but I will). Also, I do realize that you did quote the post of the person you posted this message for, but I just wanted to respond anyway. If you don't mind?

I just wanted to say... on behalf of myself and probably others... I personally don't have a problem at all with anyone who says "pbuh" after mentioning the Prophet's name... or any other Messenger (however, I do think that it's only fair to do this for ALL, if any... and not ONLY the Prophet Muhammed, because we are not to make any distinctions among them); however, I do have a problem with other Muslims becoming hostile with me or others if we choose NOT to say this. Just as we should not become irritated with those who choose TO say this... those who choose to, should not become irritated with those of us who DON'T.

I believe and TRUST in ALLAH, that if I AM to mention "pbuh" after each of the Messengers names, He allow me to find and understand His words as such... in other words, if HE is COMMANDING me to, then I most certainly will. But, if ALLAH is presenting it in the Qur'an as an option or a choice, then there may be times when I will... and times when I won't. But, again... if it is not a command from ALLAH, then I do not wish to be interrogated by other Muslims as to my "conduct" for not doing so.

I wish to serve ALLAH and allow Him to guide me to the Straight Path. I don't wish to follow men and "tradition" and get so caught up in things that are not commanded or advised by ALLAH... too much confusion there. (Ok... have to end it here  ;D... getting sleepy! :hypno:) Again... thank you for the input, it was appreciated by me. I can't speak for others, but I'm sure that I'm not alone in my appreciation :).

ALLAH knows best.

Salaam,

No Title - for 1 more day... I think

Salaam All...

I believe that Sis Huruf's point has always been that we all have choices and whatever we choose to do, it is no one who will have to answer for that choice, but we ourselves.

I think she means, who are we to pass judgment on another for whatever choice that person chooses to make, whether we agree or not?

Again... we must remember Al-Fatihah concerning all matters... ALLAH is the One that we all will most assuredly have to answer to in the end... and it is HE who is the Judge of us all! We must all stand for ourselves on Judgment Day... and only ALLAH is ALL-KNOWING!

In the name of ALLAH, the Beneficent, The Merciful.

1: Praise be to ALLAH, the Lord of the worlds,

2: The Beneficent, the Merciful,

3: Master of the day of Requital (Judgment).

4: Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech (seek) for help.

5: Guide us on the right path,

6: The path of those upon whom Thou has bestowed favours,

7: Not those upon whom wrath is brought down, nor those who go astray.

We must always remember this... it is witnessed by ALLAH, His angels, and His messengers each time we deliver it.

There is but ONE JUDGE... and HE is ALLAH!

Peace and blessings!
