Salam!
As I will be fasting this month, I'll be sure to keep my brain occupied and my goal for this year is to read books regarding religion, and I'm sure many of you guys will have some though provoking books to read. Of course the Qur'an is first choice but for the days when I'm at school where I don't think it would be clever to bring one I need other choices.
Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Selam

A lesson in life, what may appear apparent to you, may need a little research to find the truth ;)

Hello hope4. An acquaintance of mine wants to know if the Arabic version of THE TRUTH ABOUT SOUM is also available as an e-book. Could you please help.
Peace,

peace brook,
Your friend might want to read this first:
Critique of Dr Qamar Zaman (aastana) ?The Truth about ?Wudhu? (Ablution)? p67-87
http://www.islam-and-muslims.com/Critique-Dr-Zaman-Ablution.pdf
His analysis is riddled with errors.
^^
Personally I took a much simpler view of Salaat than what Dr Qamar Zaman suggests in his works. His "Truth About Saum" work is intriguing and like Hope4 I found some of the ideas presented very plausible. However as you pointed out, his work isn't well-grounded with consistent cross-reference--makes it hard to defend his ideas academically (and unfortunately he often presents his ideas in absolutish remarks).

Sorry I have no knowledge of this, but you can possibly ask in the aastana forum.
Peace

His analysis is riddled with errors.
Summary: review of 19 pages resulted in -
30 errors/problems identified
- (5 of which critical errors)
3 logical fallacies noted
16 instances requiring evidence/referencing
Total = 49 issues to be resolved/clarified
peace all,
Someone else has written a critique of Qamar Zaman's work on "sawm":

So many errors.
